G.C. Foster Forges Partnership with Catholic College of Mandeville

An MOU was signed between G.C. Foster College and the Catholic College of Mandeville (CCM) on November 14, 2014 in Mandeville. This Partnership between G.C. Foster College and the Catholic College Mandeville has given birth to the programme known as G.C. Foster Catholic (GCAT). The Programme will facilitate the offering of two of G.C Foster College courses; the Diploma in Coaching and the Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy.

The theory components of the courses will be done at the Mandeville based institution and the practical aspect which will be done at the G.C. Foster College.

Minister of Education Rev. The Hon. Ronald Thawites who was unavoidably absent sent his message, which was read by Dr. Paul Thompson who represented the minister. The message commended both institutions and stated that both the Sports Massage Therapy and Coaching Diploma courses “will assist in the development of first class practitioners in the field of Sports Sciences to facilitate and promote the continued advancement of Sport in Jamaica.”

Minister of Security and Member of Parliament of the Central Manchester Division Peter Bunting lauded the partnership and spoke of some potential opportunities for sports development in the Parish.

Her Worship The Mayor Brenda Ramsey complemented the partnership, speaking of the great opportunity that stakeholders in the Central part of the Island have in accessing this kind of facility.

Sister Una O’Conner, President of the Catholic College of Mandeville, signed the MOU on behalf her institution along with Dr. Joyce Graham-Royal who signed on behalf of the G.C. Foster College.

There was also the opening of a newly developed Science Laboratory donated by the Diocese of Mandeville led by Bishop Neil Tiedemann. The science lab was named in honour of Sister Una O’Connor who has made significant contribution to the development of the Catholic fraternity and the wider community.
