On Sunday January 27, 2008 Peter Bunting, your MP for Central Manchester, was named the thirteenth General Secretary of the Opposition People’s National after being nominated from the floor by your former MP, John Junor, during a meeting of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston.

Mr. Bunting, who was selected unopposed, accepted that he has been called to serve as General Secretary at a challenging time for the PNP, in his inaugural address to the NEC.
