Broad Leaf Mourns Boy’s Death
The sole relief for residents of Broad Leaf in south Manchester on Monday was that the ‘death hole’ is no more. When the Observer visited in mid-afternoon, a backhoe had already completed the filling in of the 15-foot deep hole which took the lives of nine-year-old Shamar Morgan and his 12-year-old brother Marques on Saturday afternoon.
Sombre-faced residents and relatives of the two drowned boys watched as the huge machine begun digging a trench, which it is hoped will effectively channel water that used to end up in the hole.
